Solidarity with MSP – Ice Out for Good!!

Philly hit the streets last night in solidarity with the January 23 Minneapolis strike to kick Ice out.

When we fight eachother for crumbs off the table it only makes the bosses stronger. We need to stop the deportations now! Full legal status for all!

We need a job for everyone who wants to work with union wages and working conditions. We need safe and reliable public transit. We need fully funded schools and city services. We need improved Medicare for all free at point of service, not massive cuts to Medicaid and medieval work requirements.

We don’t need masked and strapped thugs snatching our friends, neighbors and coworkers off the street. If we let them get away with it, this occupying army will be snatching us off picket lines next.

It’s time to get organized before Ice comes to Philly in force. Join an existing neighborhood response group or organize one on your block. Get trained up and know your rights. Support local orgs already doing this work:

New Sanctuary

Both Dems and Republicans have failed us. Both parties take the bosses money and keep us arguing with each other. It’s long past time to build a new working class party to fight for what need now instead of what the boss tells us is ‘reasonable’.

Twilight Into Night

A winters evening stroll through Center City Philadelphia. There’s always magic in the twilight. The city changes shape and sound. The sharp winter air cuts through and the debris of the day hides in the shadows. The night slowly comes to life.

Street work with Cinestill400

Some sample frames from work in progress. Shot 2 rolls of 35mm Cinestill400, a motion picture film that’s been repurposed and marketed for still photography and standard C41 lab chemistry. Found a few light leaks, some interesting color shifts and contrast effects but nothing that would make me use it instead of a more traditional emulsion unless that’s all we’ve got after the zombie apocalypse 🙂

Ink and paper

3-11-23: Been spending some time printing photos to hang. It’s been refreshing to work with paper again after so much screen time these past couple years. I’ve made all the prints with a ‘hybrid’ process: film capture and development in C-41 chemistry by a local lab, then scanned and digitized, with basic ‘darkroom’ work done on the computer in adobe lightroom, then inkjet printed on archival paper. Here’s a teaser of 2 of the pieces from the show that should be up Monday or Tuesday next week 🙂 If you’re in Philly in March, drop by Higher Grounds cafe at 631 N 3rd (3rd and Fairmount) and take a looksie.
